12 to 18 months prior admission
Start researching and shortlist 8-12 universities you want to apply to. Visit university websites and note all the application requirements, deadlines, etc.
  • Learn about options to fund your studies.
  • Make custom application strategies for different universities.

  • Enroll yourself and start preparing for required standardised tests like GMAT, GRE, UKCAT, TOEFL or IELTS – depending on the course and university.
  • Start working on the UCAS admission form pattern and application process.
  • Search for and get ready for applying for external scholarships (if eligible).
  • Contact your faculties and direct managers for at least two LORs (reference letters)

Enrolments

Apply before the deadline!
  • You may require a video interview before the admissions decision.
  • You will get your acceptance/rejection letter via e-mail by April-June (the months may vary). The acceptance letter helps you go for a study visa.
  • Gather paperwork for your study visa.
  • Based on the deadline, you will need to notify the universities of your decision, pay a non-refundable deposit, and apply for your study visa or permit.
Application fee:
Although many universities in the UK have no application fees, some universities are charging, so you require paying an application fee for the same. The number of payments may vary depending upon the university to university. Of course, the course is selected too, so check with the individual university about their application fee amount.
Statement of Purpose (SOP):
A Statement of Purpose (SOP) is your motivation introduction to the university and admission officers. It must be written in the first person and describes applying to a particular university and subject-specific.
It needs to specify why you are the best fit for the college and why they should give you an offer letter.
The style of writing may differ from formal to casual. Still, it is essential to remember that it should also reflect your personality.
Essay:
Essays are also required to be prepared by the prospective student in their own words. Therefore, essays are an essential part of the university admissions procedure.
Students may be required to present one or a few optional essays when needed.
Everyday things include career aspirations, strengths and weaknesses, skills, experiences, and reasons for considering a particular university.
LOR:
A letter of recommendation (LOR) or a reference letter was written by a third party on university or organisation’s letterhead describing the prospective student’s qualities, characteristics, and capabilities to recommend him to the college in terms of student’s ability to study a particular subject or function. For example, the third party could be a professor, direct manager of an industry, etc.

Intake

Intake seasons for Universities
The primary intake is fall. Spring is a minor intake for the UK, but some universities also offer rolling intake. The services provided by UCAS are designed for admission to the fall intake in the UK, but you have to apply directly to a university for courses starting in spring intake.
The services offered by UCAS are structured for admission to the September/October intake in the UK. However, you usually apply directly on a university website for courses starting in January or February.
Note – Students who want to take admission to a postgraduate program will have to apply to each university using the application form of the selected university/college.
